REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

IN THE REPUBLIC OF GUYANA

WE CALL FOR THE RESTITUTION OF PRESIDENT ZELAYA

We want to denounce to the world and especially to the peoples of the Caribbean the outrage that the people of Honduras are suffering by the violent action taken by a group of soldiers enemies of the democracy.

We express our solidarity with the government of Manuel Zelaya who we recognize as the legitimate President of the Republic of Honduras.

The format of coup which is being implemented in Honduras is the same used against the BolivarianRepublic of Venezuela in 2002, when they kidnapped President Hugo Chávez and invented a renunciation so as to justify their bloody actions against the democracy.

We Venezuelans saw the face of violence of those who do not believe in the people and democracy and we do not want this situation to be repeated in another country.

Zelaya`s government is a member of the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean - ALBA - and therefore is a guarantee of social and peaceful changes and transformation.

We trust that the condemnation of all governments and peoples of the world and the multilateral agencies will allow the early restitution of the democracy in the Republic of Honduras.

This is a test for the countries that comprise the ALBA and the men and women who believe that another world is possible and feasible.

Nothing can stop the process of change and social transformation that is being experienced in Latin America and the Caribbean.
